ESTADO NUTRICIONAL EN UNA COMUNIDAD UNIVERSITARIA EN ARMENIA – QUINDÍO.
Abstract
Introducción: El estado nutricional resulta del balance entre necesidades y gasto de energía. Con la información obtenida de la evaluación de estudios antropométricos, bioquímicos, alimentarios se determina el estado nutricional de individuos o grupos de población. Objetivo: Describir el estado nutricional en una comunidad universitaria en Armenia – Quindío. Métodos: Estudio descriptivo de corte transversal en estudiantes, docentes y administrativos de una comunidad universitaria en Armenia – Quindío: durante el año 2015; se describieron las variables en promedio, desviación estándar e intervalos de confianza, con un análisis comparativo por sexo y por grupo. Resultados: Presentaron diferencias significativas entre los grupos: la edad en estudiantes fue de 21,08 años, en docentes de 47,25 y en administrativos de 43,88 (p=0,0000). El perímetro abdominal promedio fue de 78,22 cm en estudiantes, 91,25 cm en docentes y 87,51 cm en administrativos (p=0,0000). El IMC fue de 23,52, 25,87 y 26,38 respectivamente. La relación cintura cadera en estudiantes 0,70, en docentes 0,88 y en administrativos 0,84 (p=0,0000). El porcentaje de consumo diario de cereales, tubérculos y plátanos fue de 82,40 %, agua 76,85 %, frutas 56,94 %, lácteos 51,38 %, y verduras 42,59 %. Presentaron diferencias significativas el consumo de productos de panadería, fritos y comidas rápidas (p=0,0000), huevo (p=0,0020), alcohol (p=0,0056), dulces, (p=0,594) y gusto por las verduras (p=0,0064) en los estudiantes y en los administrativos en el consumo de frutas (p=0,0106). Conclusiones: Al comparar indicadores como IMC, perímetro abdominal y relación cintura cadera el grupo que presenta mayor riesgo nutricional es el de administrativos, con una diferencia estadísticamente significativa.
ABSTRACT
Introduction: Nutritional status is the balance between needs and energy expenditure. With the information obtained from the evaluation of anthropometric, biochemical, food studies the nutritional status of individuals or population groups is determined. Objectives: To describe the nutritional status of a university community in Armenia - Quindio. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study, which took as its population people in a university community in Armenia was conducted - Quindio: Students, teachers and administrators during 2015; the variables were described on average, standard deviation and confidence intervals, with a comparative analysis by sex and group. Results: Significant differences between groups: age in students was 21.08 years, teachers and administrative 47.25 43.88 (p = 0.0000). The average waist circumference was 78.22 cm in students, teachers and 91.25 cm 87.51 cm in administration (p = 0.0000). And BMI was 23.52, 25.87 and 26.38 respectively. Waist hip ratio of 0.70 students in teaching and administrative 0.88 0.84 (p = 0.0000). The percentage of daily consumption of cereals, tubers and plantains was 82.40 %, 76.85 % water, 56.94 % fruits, dairy 51.38 %, 42.59 % and vegetables. Significant differences consumption of bakery products, fried and fast foods (p = 0.0000), egg (p = 0.0020), alcohol (p = 0.0056), sweet (p = 0.594) and taste vegetables (p = 0.0064) in students and administrative fruit consumption (p = 0.0106). Conclusions: When comparing indicators such as BMI, waist circumference and waist-hip ratio the group with higher nutritional risk is administrative, with a statistically significant difference.
