EFECTO DE LA ACTIVIDAD ANTIESPASMODICA DEL EXTRACTO METANOLICO DEL ALGA Oedogonium capillare (Linn) Kuetz SOBRE ILEON DE RATA WISTAR
Abstract
Abstract
The antispasm effect of methanol, chloroform and hexane extracts of the algae Oedogonium capillare (Linn.) Koetz was evaluated in an in Vitro preparation for an isolated organ. This was tested on the ileum of Wistar rats using acetylcholine and potassium chloride. For each of them, IC50 was determined. The methanol extract had a significant relaxation effect on the ileum in contrast with the other chloroform and hexane extracts which showed no activity. The methanol extract showed also a capability to inhibit contractions induced with KCl and acetylcholine; this antispasm effect might account for the use of this algae in traditional medicine.
