Introduction: Food banks have a positive impact on the health of the population, but more data is needed. Objective: To evaluate the nutritional status of child population benefiting from two food banks in Latin America. Material and method: Descriptive study, in 84 schoolchildren from 5 to 13 years old. Weight and height were measured to obtain the z-score for BMI/A and z-score for H/A. Results: 27.3% of those evaluated presented obesity and 9.5% were overweight. 77.4% were classified with appropriate height for age. Conclusion: High prevalence of obesity and overweight in the evaluated schoolchildren. Further research is needed to delve into this problem.
